Description
This classic men’s wedding ring features a raised center section with contrasting finishes and milgrain accents on the yellow gold band. It was created for a client from Seattle, WA, who came into our Bellevue showroom to look at some sample pieces and discuss the custom design process. After getting his approval for the CAD proofs of the design we developed for him, we moved his piece into production.

Raised Center
This ring is divided into two parts, with the center section sitting slightly higher than the rails on the sides. This gives the piece a visual complexity without the need to add gemstones or other flashy features, and it also contributes to the classical overtones of the piece.
Contrasting Finishes and Milgrain
To make the separation between the two sections of the ring clearer, different finishes were used on each. The middle piece was hammered and then brushed, creating a matte effect on top of the gently undulating, organic surface. This stands in stark opposition to the smooth, high polish found on the side rails. And to clearly outline the boundaries of each area, milgrain beading runs along the sides of the center section, framing it beautifully.
Custom Wedding Rings
If you like this style of ring, there are many ways to adjust it to make it fit your personal style. One option to consider is changing the width of the band, as this can have a dramatic impact on the look of the piece when you are wearing it. This band is 6mm wide, which is at the narrow end of the normal range for a men’s ring. The most popular width for this type of piece is closer to 8mm, and you could even go wider if you prefer something more substantial.
Other customization options include using a different colored metal, switching up the combination of finishes, and adding in a gemstone or some custom hand engraving. Even if you don’t want to put a gemstone on the outside of your ring, having one flush set on the inside of the band is a great way to create a link with the women’s rings that complete the wedding set. 3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.

- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
