Mokume Gane
The swirling organic designs you see in this ring are created by blending 14k rose gold, palladium, 14k white gold, and sterling silver using the mokume gane technique. This involves layering the metals together, twisting, and then forging them, and the specific method used will determine the type of pattern that shows through in the finished piece.
Due to the nature of this process, which was developed in Japan several hundred years ago, no two mokume gane pieces will ever be exactly the same. That makes including it in your ring a great way to ensure it’s truly unique. But if you see a type of pattern that you like in an existing piece, we can use the same metal combinations and forging technique to product about an 80% pattern match. Mokume Jewelry
Band Design and Contrasting Finishes
This band is 8mm wide, and the half round style gives it a slightly domed shape. The center mokume section features a sandblasted finish, and this contrasts nicely with the high polish found on the unplated white gold rails. This use of contrasting finishes provides just enough of a separation between the two sections of the ring, making it clear where their respective boundaries are despite the similarity of their colors.
Customization Options
There are quite a few ways you can customize this piece, including choosing a different combination of metals or a different pattern type for the mokume section. You could also switch to an alternative metal for the rails to add some additional contrast to the ring, and you could experiment with different finish combinations until you’ve captured exactly the look you’re after. Details
To reduce color fading, avoid friction against any surface. Avoid wearing your mokume ring during exercise, construction work, gardening, or other abrasive activities. When owning a mokume gane ring with oxidization, avoid chlorine or other similar chemicals as they eat away the patina.

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
