Custom Pearl Pendant
Item #102924 Price includes chainPendant Description
After learning a little bit about what she was looking for, we created a 3D mock up that we shared with her online. She provided some feedback and asked to see a few different versions before settling on this one. Just to be sure she really loved the design, we grew a wax model for her to come in and see before she gave her final approval to move into production.
Quahog Pearl
Quahog pearls are produced by a certain species of clams that are usually found up and down the east coast of the United States. They come in a wide variety of colors, including lilac, purple, and black, many of which are not produced by any other type of mollusk. This understandably makes them much sought-after and a wonderful centerpiece to a special piece of fine custom jewelry.
The pearl in this pendant is 5.3mm across, and it’s prong set in 14k white gold. Its rich black color contrasts beautifully with the silvery shine of the metal, and the points of the claw prongs holding it in place provide a perfect counterpoint to the perfectly round surface of the pearl.
Pendant Design
The body of the pendant features three points, with one at the top and two at the bottom. In the middle of each side where the prongs begin, the curve of the border is pinched in, creating almost a scalloped effect. The chain also joins the pendant right where the two top prongs originate, giving a nice balance to the design.
The pendant we initially created had four points on the outside and four prongs holding the pearls. However, the client asked to see a model with three prongs instead, which changed the shape of the outer pendant as well, and this was the design she eventually decided to go with. The basket behind the pearl features a custom hand-made scroll filigree that adds a nice bit of vintage flair to the piece.

Joseph Jewelry
Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.

I came to Joseph Jewelry from a friend's recommendation and I'm glad I did! I had a special pearl that I'd recently found in a seafood dish (I know, crazy) and wanted to showcase it without drilling into it. The team at Joseph's worked closely with me on the design and edited it throughout the process, with a clear and concise system of approval. I'm thrilled with my new necklace and wouldn't change a thing!
