Relief Engraving
The main feature of this ring is the lovely, organic scroll pattern that runs all the way around the 18k white gold band. It’s created by a technique called relief engraving, which allows the design to stay raised while the background is cut away. This is considered more elegant than traditional engraving, and it’s also quite a bit more labor intensive.
We’re able to offer this type of engraving to all of our custom design customers thanks to the exquisite skill of our master engraver. His many years of experience working on piece like this have allowed him to hone his skills to a great degree, as is evident in the wonderful detail and artistry found in this piece. It also allows us to customize the engraved pattern for you so that it best reflects something of personal significance to you.
Customization Options
In addition to customizing the pattern of the engraving, you may also want to consider using a different type of metal for the band. Rose and yellow gold are both good options, particularly if you want to enhance the organic themes and vintage overtones already present. Women’s Custom Wedding Bands
Another alteration to consider is integrating some small gemstones into the engraving. Bezel set small round diamonds or sapphires could provide a wonderful sparkle while simultaneously highlighting certain aspects of the design. And if you choose colored sapphires, you could introduce some subtle contrast as well.

Design and estimate
The initial design and estimate are free, with no obligation. Your designer discusses the materials, changes and budget with you before you commit.
3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.
Lifetime warranty and care

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
