25 Vintage Engagement Rings You Won't Believe Are Real
The Roaring Twenties gave us flappers, Louis Armstrong, speakeasies, The Great Gatsby, Art Deco, so much more.
As world culture emerged from the more modest times of the Victorian and Edwardian Ages, fashion and design took a much different direction: women cast their corsets aside, cut their hair into short bobs, and human culture embraced a new era. Most vintage rings we see today are inspired by the Art Deco period, characterized by geometric shapes, rich colors, foreign materials, and lavish ornamentation.
The Art Deco period lasted from the 1920's until after World War II. It symbolized a worldwide shift in design, originating in France through assertive design and new imagery as a result of the Machine Age. The movement represented luxury and progress, which could easily be why we are so interested in vintage Art Deco pieces today.
