Bronze is a very dense alloy consisting of 60% copper and 40% tin. Throughout the course of human history, it has had many uses, including being used to create tools and musical instruments. The period from 3000 BC to 1200 BC, which is known as the Bronze Age, is when bronze first became used to create jewelry. During these times, artisans would craft earrings and neck-pieces, which were predominantly worn by women. Interestingly enough, bronze jewelry pieces dating back to around the same period of time have been found in both Mesopotamiamian regions and India, indicating that it was a cross-culture jewelry medium and a popular metal for fashioning jewelry that pleased people of different areas and backgrounds. Bronze jewelry passed through many cultures over the ages, including the Greek and Roman empires, and even more recently into modern times, and has also become a popular medium for creating pottery and sculptures.
