Old European Cut

old eu·ro·pe·an cut | ˈōld yu̇r-ə-ˈpē-ən kət

noun

A round antique diamond cut, known for their chunky faceting and small table

Old European cut (OEC) diamonds were primarily cut between 1890 and 1930. They were especially popular during the Art Deco era. The OEC is characterized by a very small table, heavy crown, and usually great overall depth. They are no longer produced. This cut is not the same as old mine cut.
