Matching

match·ing | ˈma-chiŋ

adjective

A term used to describe a set of jewelry pieces with matching elements such as style or color

The term ‘matching’ in jewelry refers to any set of jewelry pieces that have similar elements to one another and match as part of a set. This is typically done intentionally by the creator of the pieces and is done for specific occasions. The most common matching sets are wedding sets of engagement rings and wedding rings, but they can also include pendant and earring pairings, or other combinations of jewelry based on the wearer, the location it will be worn, or the style of the pieces. Elements that match include the style of the pieces, the shape or cut of the stones, or the color of the pieces.
