verb
To place or fix a stone in the setting
To mount something is to place or fix it in the setting and ensure it is held tightly in place. A jewelry mounting can be made of almost any material and is specifically designed to hold certain sizes and types of stones. As such, they are frequently made specifically for the stone or the setting that is being utilized. This can include a number of precious metals, non-precious materials, and other types of jewelry that are designed to hold gemstones or themselves to be a part of a piece.
