Full-cut Brilliant

full·cut bril·liant | ˈfu̇l-kət bril-yənt

noun

A brilliant-cut diamond (or colored stone) with the usual total of 58 facets consisting of: 32 facets and a table above the girdle; and 24 facets and a culet below

A full-cut brilliant diamond is one that has the full 58 facets, with 32 above the girdle and 24 facets with a culet below the girdle, all within a brilliant diamond. Such a diamond is cut based on standard specifications in such a way as to enhance the brilliance of the stone. A round brilliant or full-cut diamond is the most common shape of diamond and makes up 75% of all diamonds on the market today. There are some diamonds that might have the same shape as a full-cut brilliant, but if they do not have 57-58 facets they are not considered full-cut diamonds.
