Rondelle

ron·del | ˈrän-dᵊl

noun

A pierced piece of metal or gemstone strung between the beads in a necklace

A rondelle is a single piece of precious metal or a gemstone that has a hole pierced in it so the disc can be hung on a necklace. Rondelles are also known as spacers and can be made from diamonds, semi-precious or precious metals, or other types of precious gemstones depending on the necklace and the type of presentation desired by the wearer. When diamond is used, it is cut in such a way to give a multi-sided shape with facets designed to reflect and refract light in a way that augments the brilliance of the rest of the necklace.
