Although initially used as a tool in Roman executions, the cross has evolved into a religious image. It is symbolic to Christian and Catholic denominations. The cross in any form - necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, etc. - are worn as an illustration of a commitment to the Christian faith. Oftentimes, children of the Christai faith are seen wearing a cross, which are often gifted during baptism and/or confirmation. The cross is very common to see as it is the primary symbol of the Christian religion, exemplifying the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Furthermore, the cross emblem is deemed a symbol of Christ himself and of the Christian faith. To many, wearing a cross is seen as the ultimate gesture of faith and pride in identifying with Christianity, and can oftentimes be influential for others to wear one as well. The shape of the cross is two intersecting lines or bars, perpendicular to one another, running both vertically and horizontally.
