The table on a stone is the largest facet, placed at the top of the stone and visible when the stone is facing directly up toward the viewer. This facet is very important for the display of the stone, impacting the brilliance and how the light flows through the other facets. Octagonally shaped on a round brilliant diamond, the table facet has eight star shaped facets surrounding it, and it serves to reflect the light that enters the diamond, ensuring the light that flows through from the pavilion is reflected back appropriately. The table may differ in size or dimensions on other cuts of diamond.
