Color Diamond

col·or di·a·mond | ˈkə-lər dī-(ə-)mənd

noun

A diamond that has a hue other than white

Diamonds naturally occur in a multitude of hues including, but not limited to: gray, white, yellow, blue, red, green, orange, purple, pink, brown, and black. Although many of these colors exist in other gemstones, diamonds score a perfect 10 on the Mohs Hardness Scale, making them more durable. The color of the stone may be a single color, such as pink, or a combination of colors, such as “pinkish purplish”. In the latter case, the name of the color indicates it is more pink than purple. So if several terms are used, the first color is the dominant color. Another concept on the color of the diamond is the tone/saturation in which the diamond has. This is defined as both as the function of the saturation of the color (the strength of the color), and if the color is dark or light.
