Pendaloque

pen·da·loque | pɒndəˈlɒk

noun

A type of pear or tear drop gemstone, faceted as a brilliant cut and suspended from a smaller stone which is usually separated by a bow or other motif

A pendeloque is a type of pear cut diamond or tear drop diamond that is faceted as a brilliant cut stone. This pear-shape modification to the round brilliant cut can be used for diamonds and other gemstones and is frequently combined with another smaller stone from which it is suspended. In the case of a classic pendeloque, the larger stone is suspended and separated by a motif of some sort, often a bow. Pear-cut or tear drop gemstones are designed to meet certain ratios and create a unique type of brilliance, like water flowing or ice on the surface of the stone. The pendeloque does this while using the same brilliant cut faceting that is common in gemstones today.
