Parure

pa·rure | pə-ˈru̇r

noun

A suite of matching jewelry, usually four or more pieces and containing a: necklace, bracelet, pair of earrings and belt or brooch

A parure is a set of matching jewelry, typically consisting of at least four pieces, but potentially including many more. The most common elements of a parure include the necklace, bracelet, earrings, and a brooch, though they may also include a belt and other elements. For example, the Sapphire Parure of Queen Maria Amelie matched the crown as well as several additional pendants that could be worn with the necklace. These were popular in the 19th century in Europe and were frequently modular, so that they could swap in different elements of the same set to not consistently wear the same jewelry, but maintain the original set as it was designed to be worn.
