The Greek god of the sea

Poseidon is the Ancient Greek God of the sea, storms, earthquakes and horses. He was worshipped by people of the time to protect seafarers and was represented in many Hellenic cities and colonies formed by seafarers of the time. Iconography from Poseidon is commonly used in jewelry for a number of reasons. The rodent, for example, symbolizes heroism, patience and wisdom, and is a common necklace or pendant selection. Images of waves and horses are also commonly used in jewelry and have been worn for varying reasons since antiquity.
