Single-cut Diamonds

sin·gle·cut di·a·monds | ˈsiŋ-gəl-kət dī-(ə-)məndz

noun

A genuine diamond, commonly used in watch cases that contain only 1 facet

A single cut diamond is a small diamond that has only a single cut on it, typically only producing one facet and therefore used in appropriate settings such as watch cases. In addition, small stones with 16 or 17 facets are also sometimes called single cut diamonds. These slightly more elaborate diamonds have an 8/8 arrangement, with 8 facets on the crown and pavilion plus the table facet. These diamonds are smaller as well and can be used in less ornate settings or when such a cut is called for.
