snake chain | ˈsnāk chān
noun
A chain that is made up of round, wavy, metal rings joined side by side to form a flexible tube with a smooth, scaly texture like snake skin
Snake chains, also sometimes referred to as Brazilian chains, are commonly used in conjunction with single, small pendants or as standalone chains. Unlike most chains, which are made from a series of linked rings, snake chains are built from small curved plates that are tightly woven together to create a single continuous chain without any visible breaks in it. The result is a smooth surface that remains very flexible and therefore quite comfortable for a single chain worn around the neck. The scaly texture of the resulting chain is where it receives its name from.
