Micro-Pavé

mi·cro pa·vé | ˈmī-(ˌ)krō pā-vā

noun

A set of tiny gemstones set very close together, traditionally in three or more rows

Pave is a term that refers to the way in which diamonds are set in a piece. Pave-set diamonds help augment the center diamond, add a greater shine and brilliance to the ring or piece that has them, and are available in a number of styles. Micro-pave refers to diamonds that are particularly small - often smaller than 0.01 carats each. These diamonds are consistent in size and use incredibly small prongs to set them in the piece. Micro pave settings often involve using more than 100 diamonds of 0.01ct each or smaller. The result is a unique texture and additional shine that cannot be achieved with the slightly larger standard pave diamonds.
